The NMAT 2026 exam will be administered between November and December of that year.  The application process for the NMAT 2026 exam will begin in early August and conclude by mid-October 2026. It is one of the most sought-after MBA entrance exams in India organised by the Graduate Management Admission Council or GMAC and is conducted at 86 test centres in India.

Every year, thousands of students appear in NMAT in order to get admission to top MBA programs offered in India. The NMAT exam is relatively easy compared to the CAT exam, so aspirants preparing for the CAT usually find the NMAT manageable as well. NMAT exam scores are accepted by more than 50+ renowned business schools across India for getting admissions to their MBA programs.

What is NMAT?

The NMAT exam officially called the NMIMS Management Aptitude Test is a national-level test conducted by GMAC. Candidates can apply their NMAT scores to get admission in NMIMS Mumbai, its campuses and other leading MBA colleges. It should be noted that the NMAT exam which was previously organised by NMIMS, Mumbai is currently administered by GMAC.

• One primary attempt plus two retakes is the maximum number of times you can take the exam.

• There must be a 15-day interval between attempts.

• The exam runs within a 44-day test window and candidates can choose their own exam date and time.

NMAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The Graduate Management Admission Council conducts the NMAT 2026 exam and sets the eligibility rules every year. Candidates must meet the following criteria to appear for the NMAT exam 2026 - 

1. Academic Qualification

• A candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree 10+2+3 or 4 years in any stream.

• It is necessary to receive at least 50% in the last year of graduation.

• Applications are also accepted from students who are awaiting results or who are in their last year of graduation.

2. Experience at Work 

• No experience at work needed.

• However, having 2-3 years of professional experience is considered an advantage during the final selection.

3. Maximum Age

• There is no set upper age to appear for the NMAT exam

4. Multiple Attempts Permitted

• In 2026 candidates may sit for the NMAT exam up to three times.

• Even if one try is designated as a no-show this still includes the primary attempt and two retakes.

1. Go to mba.com/nmat and create your NMAT account with a valid email.

2. Enter your information in the Manage NMAT Profile section.

3. Verify your email - check spam/junk if not received; you can resend it.

4. Log in to the Candidate Dashboard.

5. Complete the application form with name and DOB must match your photo ID.

6. Select up to 5 schools to send your scores as extra schools cost ₹400+ taxes.

7. Upload a recent photo that matches your ID for verification and it should be no more than 6 months old.

8. Pay the registration fee.

The candidates who wish to take NMAT 2026 should be aware of the different charges applicable for registration, reattempting, rescheduling and additional score report requests. The cost details of NMAT are provided below –

Scheduling the NMAT Exam 

• After payment go to the Candidate Dashboard - Book Exam Slot.

• Choose the mode for the Test Centre.

• Select the country, city and centre as well as the time and date that work best for you.

• Agree to the policies and confirm.

• Download your NMAT 2026 admit card 7 days before the exam.

NMAT Exam Retakes

• You can take the NMAT up to three times a year with one primary attempt and two retakes. 

• The retake option opens after your last attempt. Pay the fee and book again.

• Gap rules are that if the scorecard shows a valid score - the next attempt is after 15 days and if the scorecard shows No Show/NDA Refused/Exam Incomplete, reschedule after 24 hours.

1. Language Skills

Topics included in this section of the NMAT exam are-

• Reading Comprehension including RC passages, word meanings and summaries.

• Grammar including tenses, sentence correction, parts of speech and idioms. 

• Vocabulary includes synonyms, antonyms and analogies. 

• Sentence-based questions having para jumbles, odd one out, fill in the blanks, jumbled sentences and error spotting. 

2. Logical Reasoning

This section tests your reasoning ability through verbal and non-verbal questions. Topics include:

• Analytical reasoning has puzzles, coding-decoding, input-output and direction sense. 

• Verbal reasoning topics include statements, assumptions, conclusions and decision making. 

• Visual/figure-based reasoning

• Blood relations, calendars, clocks, analogy

3. Quantitative Skills

NMAT Preparation Tips 2026

The NMAT exam is conducted for admission to the MBA program based on speed and therefore the preparation and study plan needs to take care of speed as well as accuracy. The candidate must have a sound conceptual understanding of the exam structure and practice efficiently to excel in the test. Preparation can lead to an improvement in the NMAT score.

How to Prepare for NMAT 2026?

• Build Conceptual clarity - Devote a minimum of 3 to 4 months to learning about the subjects covered in the NMAT syllabus. It is advisable to improve basic skills before proceeding to complex ones.

• Practice NMAT Sample Papers and Mock Tests - Practice solving NMAT sample papers and previous years’ question papers to know more about the exam format and types of questions asked. While practising also focus on time management. 

• Monitor Your Performance - Monitor your performance after each practice attempt. Find out your weaknesses and work on them constantly.

• Prepare Short Notes for Revision - Prepare topic-wise notes when you study. Revising formulas, concepts and shortcut tricks will aid in effective retention.

• Clear Your Concepts - Clarify all doubts regarding difficult concepts through discussions with tutors and teachers.

NMAT 2026 Guidelines and Facilities for Students with Disability

NMAT by GMAC exam offers special provisions to disabled candidates. If a candidate needs any help during the exam, he/she has to request an application when applying through the NMAT Application Form.

Scribe Facility for NMAT

• Students suffering from vision problems can hire a scribe during the exam period. The students have an option to hire their own scribe but they must obtain permission from GMAC before the NMAT exam date.

• Candidates needing accommodation should apply early to ensure arrangements are approved before the NMAT exam.

NMAT 2026 Admit Card 

1. Go to the official website of NMAT by GMAC - nmat.org.in. You’ll also get a link in your registered email after completing the application form.

2. Select the "Download NMAT by GMAC 2026 Admit Card" option.

3. Enter your ID of NMAT and password to log in.

4. After logging in click the link to download the admission card. The PDF version of your admit card will show up on the screen.

5. Download and print the admit card. Keep extra copies for safety.

Note- Print your admit card a few days before the exam to avoid last-minute issues. If you are taking a retake exam in 2026 you don’t need to redownload it.

NMAT Result 2026

Within 48 hours of your test your NMAT results are made public. You can view and download it at the official NMAT by GMAC website.

How to View and Download NMAT Results? 

1. Click on the "Result" option after visiting the official NMAT by GMAC website.

2. Login using your username, password and date of birth which are the same credentials that are used during registration.

3. Submit the security code that appears on the screen. 

4. After logging in click on the NMAT results tab to view and download your scorecard.

The NMAT selection process 2026 has multiple stages after the exam. Participating institutes conduct these rounds individually as per their own schedules.

1. Case Discussion

• Some institutes replace GD with a Case Discussion.

• Here, candidates are given a case or situation to analyse and discuss.

• Students must contribute at least 2 - 3 meaningful points within about 15 minutes.

2. Personal Interview

• Conducted by a panel of faculty members and industry experts.

• Questions are asked on management, current affairs and global issues.

• This round assesses subject knowledge, confidence and overall personality.
