The date for the XAT 2027 exam is supposed to be 3rd January 2027. It will be declared by XLRI Jamshedpur within the second week of July 2026 along with the opening of the XAT 2027 registration procedure. Candidates can fill out the application form for the exam online through xatonline.in portal. On 4 January 2026, the XAT 2026 exam was administered.

Every year, over one lakh students take the XAT entrance examination, which makes it one of the most popular MBA entrance tests in the country. XAT 2027 examination will be organised in computer-based test mode in over 70 exam centres in India.

In the XAT 2027 exam, a total of 95 questions will appear from topics like Verbal Ability, Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude & General Knowledge.

What is the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)?

XLRI Jamshedpur administers the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), a national-level MBA entrance test for admission to its MBA Business Management and MBA Human Resource Management programs. Apart from XLRI Jamshedpur, XAT test results are also accepted by more than 150 institutes as well as almost 600 business schools in India that participate in the XAT exam. After the XAT exam, shortlisted candidates have to appear for further selection rounds such as Essay Writing and Personal Interview (PI) for final MBA admission.

XAT registration process 2027 is likely to start from July 2026 and will go on until December 2026. Aspirants who want to appear in the XAT exam need to register themselves via the official website of XAT i.e. xatonline.in.

How to Fill XAT Application Form 2027?

Follow the given steps to fill out the application form for XAT 2027 - 

Students who intend to pursue a course at XLRI Jamshedpur shall pay an extra amount of ₹200.

Candidates may choose up to six XAT test centre locations while completing the application.  In general, students are allocated the test centre according to their first city preference. However, if the number of available seats is less than the number of applicants then students will be allocated their second-preference city centre. Only the XAT 2027 entrance card will have final information regarding the designated testing location.

XAT Admission Process 2027

As soon as the XAT 2027 exam results are declared the admission procedure starts for XLRI and other institutions participating in the process. Shortlisting for further procedures is done only for candidates who meet the XAT cutoff.

Phase 1 - Shortlisting Following XAT Exam

On January 4th 2026 the XAT will take place. The test will be administered in a computer-based mode (CBT) from various test centres in India and the test will be conducted in one session.

Yes, Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) would be covered under the selection process of XAT 2026 but it would not be a part of the written exam. AEW would be done through the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD-PI) rounds for shortlisted candidates post-exam.

In order to be eligible for XAT 2026 one needs to have passed a bachelor's degree of not less than three years' duration in any field from a recognised university. Final year graduation students are also eligible subject to submission of the degree documents at the time of admission.

To appear in XAT 2026 applicants should go to the official portal at xatonline.in register by creating a new account and then complete the online application form. After filling personal, academic and professional information, applicants must upload their image and signature, choose programs and test cities and remit the fee online within the stipulated time.

XAT is found to be somewhat more difficult than other MBA exams such as CAT due to its Decision Making section which is exclusive to XAT. The general level of reasoning and comprehension in XAT is also high and the questions are found to assess a candidate's application, ethics and logic in practical situations.
