SJMSOM IIT Bombay Campus and Hostel: Facilities, Infrastructure and Student Life

The IIT Bombay SJMSOM hostel and campus are modern, comfortable and interconnected. The campus has air conditioned classrooms, computer labs, Wi Fi and a rich library with books and online databases. IIT Bombay Hostel

• IIT Bombay has a total of 17 hostels for students. 

• Hostels 1 to 9 and 12 to 15 A and B wings are for boys. Hostels 10, 10A, 11 and 15 C wing are for girls. The hostels provide comfortable living spaces and all basic facilities for students on campus.

• Each hostel has washing and ironing areas, a computer room, a TV room and spaces for indoor games like table tennis, carrom and chess. 

• Students can use these facilities with their ID cards and every room has an internet connection. 

• Some hostels also have small shops that provide daily items, stationery, photocopy and printing services. 

• Each hostel has a mess that serves food four times a day. There are also many food outlets on the campus where students can enjoy different foods.

Auditoriums and halls of SJMSOM IIT Bombay

Infrastructure at the School is modern and comfortable for students and faculty. The School has air conditioned seminar halls and a 150 seater auditorium. In these halls seminars, MDPs and conferences are held. In addition to these the school has three large auditoriums located within the IIT Bombay campus.

Convocation Hall Dikshaanth Sabhagruh The Convocation Hall is one of the main places at the Institute. It hosts cultural events like the Performing Arts Festival and Mood Indigo, social gatherings and the annual convocation ceremony. Students also enjoy weekend movie screenings and live cricket and football matches here.

P C Saxena Lecture Theatre There are about 250 seats available in this air conditioned hall. It is mainly used for lectures, seminars and conferences. Many well known personalities like Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Mr Richard Stallman and Mr Rajat Gupta have visited the campus.

KReSIT Auditorium The large auditorium is in the nearby Kanwal Rekhi School of Information Technology. It is used for big events, conferences and academic programs.

SJMSOM IIT Bombay computer labs are various facilities. These are as follows:

• The School has upgraded its computing systems with new hardware and software.

• There are around 139 PCs available for students.

• Each faculty member and research scholar has their own PC.

• The School has 4 servers for mail, web and file storage.

• The institute provides 10 Mbps Internet bandwidth.

• Parts of the campus, including SJMSOM are Wi-Fi enabled.

• Students have access to many FTP servers and newsgroups for information.

• Every hostel room has 24x7 broadband Internet connectivity.

Library of IIT Bombay SJMSOM 

The SJMSOM IIT Bombay library is an integral part of the School’s learning environment. It has a rich collection related to various management subjects in books and journals.

There are more than 6600 books, 337 audio-visual materials, 514 theses and dissertations and 55 MDP reports. The students are also provided with the IIT Bombay Central Library which has over 5000 management books and 38 journals. 

The library provides access to useful databases for research and projects. These  include CMIE Prowess, Business Beacon, Capital Line and the CII Directory. These databases enable students and faculty to get detailed business, economic and financial data.
