Degrees Awarded
There were 459 graduates from the two-year MBA program and 90 graduates from the one-year MBAEx program who graduated during this occasion. Apart from this there were 40 graduates of the PGPEX-VLM program who received a diploma and 12 research scholars who got their PhD degree at IIM-C.
Chief Guest and Important Guests
The Chief Guest for this year’s graduation ceremony was Dr Praveer Sinha the CEO and MD of Tata Power. Other important guests present during the ceremony included Dr Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar the chairperson of the Board of Governors of IIM-C and Professor Alok Kumar Rai who is the Director of IIM-C.
Top Performing Students and Award Winners
Among the MBA students, Ankit Keswani came first in his batch and won several awards one of which is the Dr B.C. Roy Gold Medal. The second and third positions were bagged by Prateek Tibrewal and Shivam Agarwal respectively.
The top three among the MBAEx students are Sayantani Kar, Sweety Dutta and Subhradip Saha. Additional awards were also handed out to the students who showed exceptional performance outside academia.
Among the doctoral scholars Dr Manhar Manchanda won several awards such as the Satish K. Sehgal Doctoral Student Award and the Nirmal Chandra Memorial Award.
Key Messages from the Ceremony
During the initial speech by Professor Alok Kumar Rai the institute’s goal was discussed to train capable and socially responsible professionals. Students were told how important it is for them to choose careers wisely since the nation’s future depends on this.
According to Dr Praveer Sinha, leadership today should be judged by purposes rather than results only. The speaker encouraged being flexible in difficult times. He put great emphasis on integrity which according to him should become a way of life.
